Hear Dave Casper talk about the 1973 Notre Dame Championship Season and more on
The Bishop's Hour
Guest Speaker: Dave Casper
Dave Casper ascended the football ladder by excelling in collegiate football where he earned—among other honors— All-American on the 1973 National Championship Team as well as Notre Dame MVP as a tight end. He recorded 21 receptions for 335 yards and four touchdowns in his college career.
Dave continued his climb when he was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in 1974. Initially he was used priarily on special teams, but quickly established himself as a dominant player. His outstanding play invigorated the Raider’s offense with a blend of pass catching and blocking and he quickly became a clutch performer.
While Dave's singular athletic talent earned him many accolades as one of the best Tight Ends in NFL history, he is a member of the Sports Faith International Hall of Fame, a Chicago-based initiative dedicated to inspiring and transforming culture through sports. Dave is also involved with fundraising projects through several Notre Dame alumni clubs and also works with the Cristo Rey Network, a group of two dozen Catholic college prep schools for urban young people with limited educational options.
